Privacy Policy

Introduction

Welcome to Professometer™, the Chrome extension that analyzes your email professionalism. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data. Spoiler alert: We actually care about your privacy because we're too lazy to build a backend to store your data anyway.

What We Collect

The short answer: Nothing. Your emails never leave your browser.

The long answer: Professometer processes your email content entirely client-side (in your browser). We don't transmit, store, or have access to:

  • Your email content
  • Your email recipients or senders
  • Your Gmail account information
  • Your professionalism scores (they're calculated locally)
  • Any personally identifiable information

How Professometer Works

Our extension runs entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Here's what happens:

  1. You compose an email in Gmail
  2. Our extension reads the text content using the InboxSDK
  3. The text is analyzed locally using our proprietary algorithm™ (which is just counting words and punctuation)
  4. Your professionalism score is calculated and displayed
  5. All of this happens on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers.

Actually, we don't even have servers. This whole thing runs on a static site and vibes.

Third-Party Services

Professometer uses the following third-party services:

  • InboxSDK - A library that helps us integrate with Gmail. It runs in your browser and follows its own privacy policy.
  • Chrome Web Store - Google may collect anonymous usage statistics about the extension (installs, uninstalls, etc.) per their own policies.

We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or any data collection tools. We literally have no idea who you are or how you're using this.

Permissions Explained

Our Chrome extension requires the following permissions:

  • Host permission for mail.google.com - So we can integrate with Gmail and read your email drafts to analyze them
  • Scripting permission - To inject our UI into the Gmail interface

Yes, we know these permissions sound scary. But remember: we're analyzing your emails locally. We literally can't send them anywhere even if we wanted to.

Data Storage

We don't store any of your data. Not on our servers, not in the cloud, not in a database. Your professionalism scores exist only in the moment they're calculated and then vanish into the ether like your hopes of achieving inbox zero.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect your data, you have the following rights:

  • Right to Access - You already have it! Everything happens on your device.
  • Right to Deletion - Just uninstall the extension. Poof. Gone.
  • Right to Portability - There's nothing to port because we don't have your data.
  • Right to Object - You can object by not using it. We won't be offended.

Children's Privacy

Professometer is not intended for use by children under 13. If you're under 13, you probably shouldn't be worrying about email professionalism anyway. Go outside and play.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Since we don't have your email (or any way to contact you), you'll need to check back here yourself.

But let's be honest, this policy isn't changing. We're not collecting data now, and we're not planning to start.

This is a satirical project created for entertainment purposes. While the privacy policy is written in a humorous tone, the privacy practices described are accurate: we genuinely do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data or email content. Everything runs locally in your browser.
